Lofts on 10th St.

This project involved the renovation of a neglected 1920s-era mixed-use building, transforming it into a vibrant space that meets modern tenant needs. The second-floor residential units, once small and lacking amenities, were reimagined as one- and two-bedroom loft apartments. Exposing existing wood trusses added ceiling height, while modern materials, fixtures, and appliances enhanced functionality and aesthetics. New skylights in the corridor restored the building’s original lighting, and a new exit stair was installed to meet code, preserving the historic stair.
The first-floor retail spaces received essential updates, including code-compliant utility services, new doors, and windows, with ceilings raised to recapture the historic height. The architect also designed Amarillo Man and Cut Salon as the initial retail space, using locally sourced upcycled lumber and repurposed interior doors and window units. The result is a stylish, contemporary space with a nod to the building’s historical roots.
